SPECIAL NEEDS/ ACCESSIBILITY

· The true meaning of community is to understand the needs of all its residents.

· As Stouffville grows it is important to make sure that the town departments that are in place for special needs and accessibility are updated to effectively deliver these important services for those who need them.

· I will support the process in council to make sure that no one special needs group is left out of the process.

• $18 million downtown reconstruction project of main street.

• Several years to complete will have a major impact on retailers and business.

• Need strong management and experience to ensure that the project is done on time and on budget.

• I gained a great deal of experience of managing large infrastructure projects while on council. From 2003 to 2018 council successfully managed $100 million in town capital projects.

• I will make sure that my experience with managing large capital projects is applied to this project.

ATTRACTING BUSINESS TO STOUFFVILLE

Stouffville needs more business—and a stronger tax base.

Today, approximately 90% of our tax revenue comes from residential properties and only 10% from business. That puts too much of the burden on homeowners.

More business means more local jobs for residents and more commercial tax revenue to help support our community.

When I served on Council, I was part of an Economic Development Committee made up of Town staff and residents. I believe residents—the shareholders of Stouffville—need to be back at the table.

If elected, I will make attracting new business and strengthening our commercial tax base a priority.

TRAFFIC CONCERNS

Stouffville is growing. Our traffic solutions need to grow with it.

Traffic is one of the biggest concerns I hear from residents.

When I served on Council, I headed a YRP-Traffic Committee that brought residents and York Regional Police together to tackle local traffic problems.

It worked. We should bring it back.

If elected, I will push Council to re-establish a YRP-Traffic Committee where residents and police can identify problem areas, prioritize solutions and take action.

Residents know where the problems are. Let’s put them at the table.

Every Ward Deserves a Community Garden

Right now, we only have two — Greenwood Park (Ward 5) and Sunny Ridge Park (Ward 6). Every urban ward deserves one. I will push for a new garden in Ward 4.

Gardening builds health, connection, and community pride. I will advocate at council for a full expansion of community gardens across all urban wards.
